The major, lead editorial in last Saturday’s Globe & Mail was about reading and literacy.  ”Reading and Writing: The Golden Ticket“ focused on the innovative efforts of Teacher-Librarian Arlene Lipkewich at Westmount Junior High.  Congratulations Westmount on the national recognition!

Students in Westmount’s Grade 8 Challenge Program entered a photo or a poem in the Edmonton Food Bank’s Expressions of Hunger Interactive Photo and Literary Contest. 

The entries of all students who entered are posted online at the Food Bank website.  Edmontonians are invited to vote for their favorites.  Voting closes on April 30th and the winners will be announced on May 2nd.

Westmount students and staff were treated to a very special guest today!  Adam Enright, gold medal Olympian for Men’s Curling, spoke to students this morning.  Thank you to Mr. Benders for making this possible.
